Do you remember the city of Carthage from history class? Carthage was once the heart of a powerful Mediterranean empire. From its very beginning, it was a prime trading center engaging in the Iberian, Italian and Levantine trading routes. After the final Punic war, Carthage was destroyed and occupied by Roman forces. Romans refunded the city of Carthage, which became the Roman empire's fourth most important city, till it was destroyed a second time in 7th century by Muslim conquest of the Maghreb.
